The BC Summer Games are British Columbia’s biennial celebration of sport and community. Since 1978, the BC Games have taken place in 38 communities and involved over 350,000 participants and volunteers and thousands more as spectators and supporters.

The 2024 BC Summer Games will take place in Maple Ridge, BC from July 18th to 22th, 2024.

The purpose of the BC Games is “To provide an opportunity for the development of athletes, coaches, and officials in preparation for higher levels of competition in a multi-sport event which promotes interest and participation in sport and sporting activities, individual achievement and community development.” This experience is an important development opportunity and stepping stone towards higher level sport competitions.

In order to ensure that the BC Summer include participants from every part of the Province, as well as to help support each Provincial Sport Organizations work to spread their efforts and interest throughout the Province, the Province has been divided into eight (8) Zones for participation in the Games. BC Soccer is thus seeking one (1) volunteer for the Zone Representative role for each of the eight (8) zones.

Key responsibilities of the Zone Representatives include, but are not limited to:

1. Ensure that all eligible athletes in the zone have an opportunity to qualify for the Games, through working with BC Soccer to plan and promote qualification events for the zone and determine processes, eligibility, timing, fees, etc.
2. Act as the centralized point of contact for Clubs/Districts and families within the zone
3. Assist with coach identification and selection for the zone’s teams
4. Help ensure the registration for all soccer athletes and coaches from the zone
